nDreams on the road
The nDreams team has been out and about these past few weeks, sharing the VR cheer with one and all! We have ventured all over, attending some great events and showing off our two VR titles for the Samsung Gear VR: Gunner and Perfect Beach.
Our first stop was Apps World in London on the 12th and 13th of November. This year’s event took place at the ExCeL Centre with over 250 speakers, 300 exhibitors and two live hackathons. nDreams were given the chance to attend the London event and introduce Apps World to Virtual Reality.
With the rain pouring outside, our Perfect Beach setup of deck chairs against an idyllic beach backdrop proved to be enticing to the crowds that flooded through the doors! Those who had a go commented on how the experience made them feel much more calm and relaxed, especially in a busy environment such as Apps World. Success!
And for gamers Gunner was the big draw! There was a positive response for the game and everyone enjoyed the epic controller-free action of shooting action. Players loved how easy and accessible the game was and the fact that all you have to do is aim and shoot by using the movement of your head!
Our CEO, Patrick O’Luanaigh, also attended the event and gave a talk on designing VR games and experiences for mobile. His talk pulled a sizeable and attentive crowd listening to his words of wisdom!
Overall the Apps World experience was incredibly positive and it was great to introduce our two titles to people who’ve never experienced virtual reality before. Nothing is more exciting than seeing first time reactions of VR virgins…
VR in a Bar
VR in a Bar was our next stop in London and took place at The Loading Bar, better known as one of the few places in London that offers gamers somewhere to both drink and play games. A cool venue!
Earlier in the year they help their first VR event that drew together people who have a passion for this new technology. With that being a success they decided to hold a second and nDreams was kindly invited along to join the party!
We took the time to create some great Gunner masks for the front of our Samsung Gear VR dev kits and got the attendees in the mood to aim for victory!
The nDreams team really enjoyed being a part of this event and it was a great opportunity to talk to other developers about all things virtual reality.
By the way if you find the time to head down to the Loading bar then go as it’s worth the trip! Check out the website for more details on their regular weekly events. They will be planning their next VR in a Bar event in early 2015 that we hope to attend – so keep an eye out!
nDreams Press day
Of course we didn’t stop there! No! Just a few days’ later nDreams hosted a press day for Gunner and Perfect Beach at the UKIE office in central London. Several key journalists were invited to the event and for many this was their first experience of Virtual Reality. Our lead designer Andreas was on hand for interviews and questions about the two titles. All seemed to enjoy their time in VR and their previews will be hitting soon. Keep your eyes out…
Festive VR Brighton
Moving into December we decided to venture out of London and head down to the south coast for Festive VR Brighton.
It was another outing for Gunner and we showed off the game to everyone attending. In addition to our space shooter there were many other great games to be played on the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. In addition to our friends from the VR in a Bar event, Crystal Rift and Smash Hit Plunder, there was also the high speed Radial – G: Racing Revolved. Check it out, the game is looking great!
We look forward to the next VR Brighton event – maybe next time we will venture down to the Brighton Pier with our own perfect beach experiences…!
