The Assembly Wows the Crowds at EGX 2015

Apologies for the late delivery of this missive, your humble scribe had come down with a rather nasty dose of the post-convention sniffles.

We took The Assembly to EGX last week and we think it's fair to say that the game was overwhelmingly well received by visitors to the nDreams stand.

Situated slap-bang in the middle of the show, right next to PlayStation’s stand and the Star Wars: Battlefront booth, the game had constant queues throughout the week. By the time we'd reached the show's peak on Saturday, the wait to play the game was well over an hour! Not a bad crowd for The Assembly's very first public outing.

Thankfully, feedback was almost unanimously positive across the 1500-2000 atendees who came to play The Assembly over the course of the event. True story: we actually had someone say it was the best experience of their life – as much a comment on the transformative power of VR as on our first-person adventure game - and a comment that didn’t include the word "amazing", "incredible" or "outstanding" was hard to find.

We also caught up with several members of the gaming press and brought them up to speed with the latest info about the game.

  • We discussed everything from the game's puzzle mechanics to its release window with Snowy Gaming:

  • We also described The Assembly as "the finest VR game known to cats" to WhatGear Reviews - watch their video below to find out why.

The demo build held up very well – we only had a single crash all week when someone accidentally turned off their VR headset – but otherwise it ticked along beautifully and bodes very well for the game's full release.

Next week we'll be revealing the winners of our exciting EGX prize draw as well as giving you the full low-down on our CEO Patrick and Senior Designer Jackie's EGX Developer Session, which showcased the process of developing a game for virtual reality.

We’re here for you, virtually
