Former Sega CEO joins nDreams board

nDreams are pleased to announce the addition to their board of Mike Hayes, former CEO of SEGA and Sales & Marketing Director at Nintendo and Codemasters.

In his role at SEGA, Mike established the company as a multi-platform software developer and publisher, growing the business to a $500m revenue operation and purchasing both Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly as part of the company’s core PC strategy. A key part of Mike’s tenure at SEGA was to oversee the shift in the business towards digital based commerce and they were one of the first publishers to launch games on iOS and focus distribution of core IP through digital platforms such as Steam and PSN.

Mike’s addition to the board follows the recent investment in the company by Mercia Fund Management, and is a key element in a major push into virtual reality. nDreams are developing games, experiences and other projects for both the Oculus Rift and Sony Morpheus headsets, and will be revealing their first major VR game at E3 this year.

Mike Hayes said:

“Patrick and his team have shrewdly identified the emerging VR technology as the next exciting innovation which will undoubtedly provide the games industry with a major commercial boost. nDreams are well placed to provide innovative software for the new headsets and have the opportunity to be a major player in this new market.”

nDreams CEO, Patrick O’Luanaigh said,

“We’re delighted to welcome Mike as a director. I have been fortunate enough to know Mike for over 15 years, and he’s one of the smartest people in the industry. Alongside the talents of Nicholas Lovell and Pip Burley, we now have a formidable team of non-executives that will help drive us forward as we look to become a major player in the rapidly growing world of VR.”
